Minsk is an impressive ancient city of the Republic of Belarus. It is the capital, the largest and the cleanest city in Belarus. Travelers should start a morning walk along the Minsk Waterfront. Admire the National Library of Belarus, a gigantic diamond 23 story building. Spend a wonderful afternoon strolling through Janka Kupala Park, next to the Bolshoi Theater and city center. The Belarusian Ballet is something you shouldn’t miss when visiting the city. Nyamiha Shopping Center is a large mall loaded with all the high-end retail stores. Special places of interest are the Belarusian Natural History Museum, Belarusian National Arts Museum, Museum of History of the Great Patriotic War and the Nesvizh Castle a UNESCO World Heritage Site full of Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Classicism, Neo-Gothic and Modernism architecture, a short drive outside of Minsk. 

Explore Old Town in the Trinity Hill Suburb on the left bank of the Svislach River. Begin your walk along Nezavisimosti Avenue from the Red Church to Pobedy Square to check out the Government House, City Council, KGB Headquarters, Post Office, Palace of the Republic, House of Officers and the residence of the President.  The most visible church in Minsk is the Cathedral of Holy Spirit overlooking the Svisloch River in the historic Upper Town, once a Catholic Bernardine monastery dating back in the 17th century. Another important area of interest many travelers include on their itinerary is The Island of Tears. A small island, the heart of the city, is a tribute to the lost war of the USSR in Afghanistan.
