   Oranjestad Travel Information

Oranjestad is the capital of Aruba.  It is situated on the island’s picturesque southern coast and is the economic, entertainment, cultural and tourist center of the island.  Just a short drive outside of Oranjestad is Palm Beach, home to many of Aruba's resorts, providing tourists with calm waters and white beaches.  The nearby restaurants are not to be missed and serve a vast array of local cuisines. Just south of Palm Beach lies the coveted Eagle Beach.  Though smaller in size and density, Eagle Beach nevertheless takes pride in being touted as one of Aruba's best beaches.

Top Things To Do In Oranjestad

The city of Oranjestad is a picturesque town located in the western part of the Aruba Island in the Caribbean.  Oranjestad's downtown streets are lined with pastel-colored Dutch colonial houses adorned with ornate gable roofs.  Oranjestad offers a wide array of activities and attractions.  One of the highlights in Oranjestad is the Archaeological Museum, with exhibits on Aruba's original Arawak inhabitants.  Other sites in Orangestad include the restored 18th-century Fort Zoutman, the Museo Arubano (which displays Aruba's pre-European and colonial eras), and the Numismatic Museum.  The Numismatic Museum houses one of the largest collections of historic coins, many salvaged from shipwrecks in the surrounding area.  L.G. Smith Boulevard, the palm-lined thoroughfare in the center of town, runs between pastel-painted buildings of typical Dutch design.  You will find many malls with boutiques and shops here.  Like many other places in the Caribbean, Oranjestad has an exotic local cuisine based on locally grown vegetables, fruits, spices, herbs, and a great selection of locally caught seafood.
